Head of
School:
Emory Latta
Mr. Latta, the Headmaster, earned his B.S. degree from the
University of Alabama and his M.S. degree from Troy
University Dothan. In addition to principal, he also is the
head football coach at PCS. His wife's name is Debbie, and
he has six children - Christina, Jeffrey, Ryan, Lindsey,
Brooks, and Emily Anne. Mr. Latta enjoys golf, strength
training, and cardio exercises. His birthday is January
7th.
The Logic and
Rhetoric School Principal:
Kathy Compton
Mrs. Compton, the Logic and Rhetoric School Principal,
earned a B.S. degree in Marketing and a B.S. degree in
Secondary Math Education. She and her husband, Barry, have
two children, Kevin and Cassie. Mrs. Compton enjoys eating,
sleeping, water activities, and teaching math. Her birthday
is May 9th.
The Grammar
School Principal:
Darlene Jones
Mrs. Jones is the Grammar School Principal at Providence.
She has a B.S. degree in Biology and a M.S. degree in
Secondary Education. She began teaching at PCS its
first year as a 6th grade teacher. Her husband, Pat,
is a local attorney. They have two daughters.
Peyton and Allden, both graduates of PCS.
Mrs. Jones likes reading, gardening, and spending time with
her family. Her birthday is January 27th.
Administrative Team:
Martha Burnham
Mrs. Burnham, the Librarian, earned her B.S. and M.S.
degrees from Auburn University in Educational Media. She
and her husband, Jim, have two grown children, David & his
wife Lee (who are the parents of her two grandchildren) and
daughter Bonnie who lives in Jackson, Ms. Grandchildren
James and Alex both attend Providence. Mrs. Burnham is
a voracious reader, and enjoys photography, spending time
with her family and participating with her grandchildren in
all they do. Her birthday is June 7th.
Teresa DeWeese
Mrs. DeWeese is the Office Administrator at PCS.
She and her husband, Al,
have two married children and two granddaughters. Mrs. DeWeese enjoys
gardening, reading, cooking, photography, and spending time
with her family. Her birthday is May 26th.
Patricia Elliot
Mrs. Elliott is the Financial Administrator at
Providence. She and her husband have two grown children, and two
grandchildren. She enjoys reading and playing in the dirt.

Chris Fain
Mr. Fain is the Boys Athletic Director and the Dean of Men. He also
teaches 9-12 grade physical education and coaches JV football and
Varsity Boys Basketball. He earned his B.A. degree in
History/Secondary Education from Covenant College. He is
married to Lindsey Fain, who also teaches at PCS. Mr. Fain
enjoys basketball, tennis, golf, reading, and video games. His
birthday is July 25th.
Lindsey Fain
Mrs. Fain is the Girls Athletic Director and the Dean of
Women. She also teaches 7-12 grade girls physical education
and coaches Varsity Girls Soccer.
Mrs. Fain has a B.A. degree in Science and Social Studies Education
from Covenant College. She is married to Chris Fain, who also
teaches at PCS. She enjoys working out, playing tennis, and
reading. Her birthday is August 6th.
Debbie
O'Dell
Mrs. O'Dell is the Administrative Assistant at Providence. She and her
husband, Pat, have two children, Kaitlin and Nathan. Mrs.
O'Dell enjoys reading. Her birthday is June 10th.
Kendall
Palmer
Mrs. Palmer is the Logic and Rhetoric Schools Guidance Counselor.
She earned her B.S. degree in Family and Consumer Science Education
from Auburn University and her M.A. degree in School Counseling from
Troy University. She and her husband, David, have two
children, Anna Caroline and Camille. Mrs. Palmer enjoys
sewing, tennis, scrapbooking, and shopping. Her birthday is
August 11th.
Angela Smith
Mrs. Smith is the Director of Marketing at Providence. She has a
B.A. degree in Communications from the University of Alabama. She
and her husband, Banks Smith, have two children, Alexandria a senior
at PCS, and Banks, Jr., a Freshman. Mrs. Smith enjoys reading,
gardening, and tennis. Her birthday is September 30th.
Greg Walker
Mr. Walker is the Buildings and Grounds Administrator at Providence.
He has a B.S. degree in Management from the University of West
Florida. He
and his wife, Donna, have two sons, Cody and Spencer, who are both
students at PCS. Mr. Walker enjoys woodworking and hunting.

Bonnie Wright
Mrs. Wright is the First Presbyterian Preschool Director, and
the Academic Supervisor at PCS. She has a B.A. degree in
Education from Covenant College. She and her husband, Ken,
have a son, Mark, who was recently married to Kara, and a daughter,
Lauren, who is a graduate of PCS. Mrs. Wright enjoys reading,
traveling, and spectator sports (Go Eagles!). Her birthday is
August 14th.

Debi Carlisle
Mrs. Carlisle is a
receptionist at Providence. She is married to Jerry Carlisle
and has five children - Clay, Felicia, Stephanie, Robby, and Sara,
who attends PCS. She also has four grandsons - Tre, Adam,
Blake, and Landon. Mrs. Carlisle enjoys attending Sara's
athletic events, spending time with her family, traveling, and
reading. Her birthday is March 30th.

Charlton
Mrs.
Charlton is a receptionist at Providence. She is a native of Dothan,
and is married to Keith Charlton. They have three children. Her
two oldest children are both graduates of Providence, and her
youngest is a high school student here at Providence. Mrs. Charlton
enjoys reading, the beach, and the mountains.
Patricia Godwin
Mrs. Godwin is the Scrip Coordinator at PCS. She and her
husband, Joe, have two sons, Dajun and Rowan. Mrs. Godwin
enjoys hunting, scrapbooking, and any outdoor activity. Her

Mrs. Murray is the

Oldfield
Mrs.
Oldfield is the secretary for the Logic & Rhetoric School. Her
husband, Bill, is the varsity volleyball coach. They have two
children, Rebecca and Brian. Brian is a 2007 graduate of PCS and is
enjoying his freshman year at the University of Alabama. Mrs.
Oldfield enjoys reading and working with Stephen Ministry at her

Mrs. Scott works in the
office and is the cheerleading coach at Providence. She and
her husband, Jason, have one son, Caleb Waters who attends PCS.

Teresa Thompson
Mrs. Thompson is the catered lunch coordinator and athletic

Mrs. Belden teaches 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade

Biology and a minor in military science. She and
her husband, Kevin, have five children - Victoria,
Tyler, Brooke, Jade, and Chloe. Mrs. Belden enjoys

Julie Brown
Mrs. Brown teaches 3rd grade at Providence. She has a B.S.
degree in Education from Troy University and a M.S.
degree in Early Childhood Education from Troy University
Dothan. She and her husband, Todd, have two
daughters, Jacy and Janie. Mrs. Brown enjoys
caring for and spending time with her family, singing,

Pam Bruce
Mrs. Bruce teaches 3rd grade at Providence.

Baldwin in Tifton, GA. She has a
Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree
in E.C.E. from Valdosta State University. Her
husband, Ron is the minister of Christian Recreation
at Calvary Baptist Church. They have 2 adult
daughters [Ashley and Lindsay] and 2 grandchildren
[Emery and Ethan]. Mrs. Bruce enjoys photography,
reading, snow skiing, and pets—especially her black
Pekingese, Maggie. Her birthday is September 12.
Kitsy Burns
Mrs. Burns teaches 4th and 5th grade Latin at PCS. She
received her degree from The Woman's College of Georgia. She
and her husband, Henry, have three sons. When she has some
spare time, Mrs. Burns enjoys gardening and cooking. Her

Shera Cooley
Mrs. Cooley teaches 6th
grade math and Bible at Providence. She has a B.S. degree in
Elementary Education from Troy State. She and her husband,
Van, have four daughters, Beth, Brooke, Savanna, and Suzanna.
Mrs. Cooley enjoys white water rafting, collecting antique milk
glass, and gardening. Her birthday is September 23.
Holly
Gagliano
Mrs. Gagliano teaches 6th grade
Literature and Grammar. She has a B.S. degree in Elementary
Education from Troy University, and is currently working on her
Masters degree. Mrs. Gagliano and her husband, Philip, have
two children, Josie and Gracie. She enjoys scrapbooking,
camping, and spending time with her family. Her birthday is
June 12.
Louise Garrett
Mrs. Garrett teaches 5th grade math, spelling, and Bible at PCS.
She has a masters degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Garrett
has two grown children and five grandchildren. She enjoys
travel, reading, and mission trips. She teaches internationals
at her church. Her birthday is September 2nd.
Alden Godfrey
Mrs. Godfrey has
been teaching 1st grade for 16 years, and is an original staff
member of PCS. She has her B.A. degree from Auburn University.
She and her husband, Bobby, have two sons, Will and Cory, one
granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth, and a cocker spaniel, Abby Grace.
She enjoys grandmothering Lauren Elizabeth. Her birthday is
August 21st.
Marlesa Greiner
Mrs. Greiner teaches 1st
and 6th
grade music, coordinates 1st -8th grade chapels, and works with the
office staff. She graduated from Valdosta State University in
Georgia with a degree in Music Education. She has two Gospel
recordings, is a former Miss Georgia and Miss America Top Ten
Finalist. For two years she sang with Walt Disney World's
"Voices of Liberty." Mrs. Greiner and her husband Jeff,
founded and pastor Church of the Nations in Dothan. They have
2 sons, Asher and Tyse. Mrs. Greiner teaches private voice
lessons. She enjoys theater, choreography, emceeing, and
flying her Dad's airplane. Her birthday is October 23.
Kay Hamner
Mrs. Hamer, a 2nd grade teacher at Providence, has been teaching 2nd
grade for 18 years. She is a graduate of Dothan High School
and earned her B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn
University. She and her husband, Steve, have two children,
Jordan and Brock. Mrs. Hamner says that when she is not
driving the family taxi cab, she enjoys gardening, scrapbooking,
cooking, and going to the lake with family and pets. Her
birthday is September 2nd.
Ann Hobbs
Mrs. Hobbs comes to us with 19 years
of teaching experience with a degree in Early Childhood Education
from Valdosta State University. Mrs. Hobbs has also trained as an
educational therapist. She is teaching 1st grade at
Providence. She and her husband, Keith, have two sons, Brad
& Tristan. Brad is a ministry major at University of Mobile and
Tristan is a sophomore at PCS. Mrs. Hobbs and her family are very
excited to be a part of the Providence family. Her birthday is
April 19.
Karon
Holley
Mrs. Holley teaches 3rd grade at Providence. She has a B.S.
degree in Education from Troy University Dothan. She and her
husband, Vaudy, have two children. Jeremy and his wife, Karin,
live in Huntsville and Karrie and her husband, Brian Hart, live in
Newnan, Georgia. Mrs. Holley has one grandchild - Holley Marie
Hart. She enjoys reading and sewing. Her birthday is
October 7th.
Cyndy
Horner
Mrs. Horner teaches third grade at Providence and has a B.S. degree
in Middle Grades Education from Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
She and her husband, Stephen, have one daughter, Lauren Elizabeth.
Mrs. Horner enjoys gardening, crafts, scrapbooking, and reading.

Sue Killebrew
Mrs. Killebrew teaches music to grades 1-5 at Providence. She
has a B.S. degree from Samford University and a Master of Church
Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Killebrew
has three daughters, Shanna, Skylar, and Susan. She
enjoys photography, mystery novels, and scrapbooking. Her
birthday is December 31st.
Melissa Knight
Mrs. Knight is a 2nd grade teacher at PCS. She is a 1995
graduate of Troy State University Dothan where she earned her B.S.
degree in Elementary Education. She has been teaching in
private schools since graduation. Mrs. Knight says that it was
through much prayer and waiting on God that He opened the door to
allow her to be a part of His work at PCS. Her goal as a
Christian educator is to help her students to develop into
God-loving, Bible-believing, self-motivated, divergent, life long
learners. She and her husband, Kevin, have two children, Kory
Matthew, and Kassidy Morgan. Mrs. Knight and her family attend
New Hinson Baptist Church where is a member of the children's
committee, teaches 4th-6th grade discipleship training, coaches
Upward basketball, and teaches Mission Friends. Her birthday is November 12.

Perreault
Mrs. Perreault teaches 1st - 5th grade Art at PCS. She has
a B.S. degree in English History from Auburn University, a M.Ed.
degree in Elementary Education from Georgia State University, and a
B.S. degree in Fine Arts from Troy University. She and her
husband have three children, Kristin, Andy, and Caroline. Mrs.
Perreault enjoys painting, reading, traveling, and exercising.

Kari Beth Price
Kari Beth teaches 2nd Grade at Providence. She has a
Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family
Studies from Auburn University. She is currently
working on her Master's degree in Elementary Education
from Troy University in Dothan. Her birthday is
March 5.
Eleatha Ross
Mrs. Ross teaches 4th grade at Providence. She has an A.A.
degree from Chipola Jr. College and a B.S. degree in
Education from Samford University.
She is
married to Jeff Ross.
He is now the
Director of Columbia Baptist Association Ministry
Center. She has two daughters, Melea and Emalee. Both
girls are students at Troy University in Troy. Mrs.
Ross enjoys spending time with family and friends,

Jordan Sanders
Mrs. Sanders teaches 5th grade history and literature at PCS.
She has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and a M.A. degree in
Learning Disabilities. She and her husband, Mark, have three
children, Laurin, Layne, and Zac. Mrs. Sanders enjoys
hand-tinting photographs, scrapbooking, and sewing. Her

Mrs. Wallace is
a Grammar School aide at PCS. She and her husband Aubrey have

Sheila Wallace
Mrs. Wallace is a Grammar School aide at PCS. She has an
Associates degree. She and her husband, Steve,
have three children, Jared, Tyler, and Kristen.

Elizabeth Welch
Mrs. Welch is a first grade teacher at Providence. She has a B.S. degree in Mental Health and a B.S. degree in Early Childhood

Bonnie Chancey
Ms. Chancey teaches 3rd,
7th, and 8th grade Latin at PCS. She has a B.S. degree in
Elementary Education from University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Ms. Chancey has five grown children and eleven grandchildren.

Jennifer Daffron
Mrs. Daffron teaches Physics, Chemistry, and Physical Science at Providence.
She has a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Alabama.
She and her husband, Eric, have two children, Garrett and Emily, who
both attend PCS. Mrs. Daffron enjoys cycling, music, and

David Dark
Mr. Dark teaches 7th grade Earth Science and 10th grade Biology. He has a B.A. degree from
Mercer University in Macon, George. His major was History and
his minor was Christianity (Religion) & Pre-Medicine. Mr. Dark

Melissa Dark
Mrs. Dark teaches
Geography and American Literature at Providence. She has a
B.A. degree from Mercer University in Literature and Christianity.
She is married to David Dark. Mrs. Dark enjoys reading,
hiking, and working on their house! Her birthday is October

Robert (Bo) Grice
Dr. Grice teaches Logic and Rhetoric School Bible and history.
He has a B.S. degree in Psychology and History and a M.S. degree in
Counseling Psychology from Troy University Dothan. Dr. Grice
also has a MAR in Religion and a Ph. D. from Liberty University. He and his wife, Denita, have four
children - Heather, Melissa, Taylor, and Robbie. He enjoys
being a "media junkie." His birthday is January 30th.
Dana Gunter
Mrs. Gunter teaches Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and Spanish II at PCS.
She has an Associate's Degree from Wallace College, a B.S. degree in
Education, and a Masters in Education from Auburn University.
Her husband, John, serves as a missionary to Hispanics in Southeast
Alabama. They have two sons, Daniel and Luke, who both attend
PCS. Mrs. Gunter enjoys scrapbooking and reading Christian
novels. Her birthday is July 22.
Sharla Harris
Mrs. Harris teaches Logic, Statistics, and Geometry at Providence.
She has a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics from Auburn University
and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education / Math from the
University of Alabama. She and her husband, Brad, have three
children, Jacob, Connor, and Benjamin. Their family has a
basset hound named Knuckles. Mrs. Harris enjoys tailgating at
Auburn football games, cooking, buying shoes, and being a soccer,
basketball, football, and baseball mom! Her birthday
is October 7th.
Dave Hebert
Mr. Hebert is Providence's
worldview director. He and his wife, Paula, have four
children, Jodi, Alyssa, Andy, and Jordan. Their family
served as missionaries in Japan for a number of years.
His birthday is August 29.
Jayson Kirk
Mr. Kirk was born at
Andrew’s AF Base in Dover, Delaware on October 1, 1982. He
moved to Florida as an infant and lived in Crawfordville,
FL, just south of Tallahassee, until 2003. He received his
B.A. in Theology with a minor in Bible from the Baptist
College of Florida. When he was eleven years old, God saved
him and called him to the Gospel ministry. Before he became
the Minister of Music at New Hinson Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama, he served as a youth minister in Holmes
County, FL for two and a half years. He enjoys hunting,
fishing, basketball, and all things Florida State. He
currently teaches 7th grade Old Testament and 8th
grade Latin.
Charles Lewis
Dr. Lewis teaches 10th grade Hermeneutics at PCS. He is
also pastor of the Dothan Community Church. He has a
B.S. degree in Biology from Tuskegee University, a Master of
Theology in Christian Education, and a Doctor of Ministry in
Pastoral Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Geraldine, have four children - Doron,
Makario, Charita, and Timia. Dr. Lewis enjoys music,
reading, tennis, and gardening. His birthday is
January 3rd.
Monica Roberson
Mrs. Roberson teaches 7th and 8th grade English at
Providence. She has a B.A. degree in English/Language
Arts from the University of Mobile. She absolutely
loves middle school students! Her husband, Adam, is
the Student Pastor at Wiregrass Church in Dothan. They
love to play board games, go out to eat, and spend time with
students. Her birthday is December 6.
Linda Saliba
Mrs. Saliba teaches Spanish at PCS. Her birthday is August 21.
Banks T.
Smith (Tom)
Mr. Smith teaches history at Providence. He grew up as a “military brat” moving around to various
Marine Corp Air Stations and bases along the eastern
seaboard. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in
Montgomery, Alabama before attending and graduating from
Auburn University in 1981. After spending 5 years as a
police officer, he was admitted and graduated from
Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in
Birmingham, Alabama in 1985. He came to Dothan to
practice Law in 1985 and actively practiced from 1985 to
2006, when he felt called by God to leave private
practice to teach history in the Rhetoric School at
Providence. He developed his love of history through
trips to many of our Civil War battlefields and his
parent’s belief that their children should take
advantage of our history and museums while living in the
Washington D. C. area. Mr. Smith is a former permanent board
member of Providence Christian School, having served from
the second year of the school’s existence until
accepting his teaching position in 2006 and is a current
member of the First Presbyterian Church Session.
He is married to Angela Smith and has two children, Alexandria, who
graduates from Providence in 2008, and Banks, currently in 9th
grade. He is an avid reader, who likes to hunt and fish, and
most any other outdoor activities. He also helps coach Jr.
High Football and Girls Varsity Basketball. His birthday is
September 29.
Stacie Stevens
Mrs. Stevens teaches
Algebra I, Algebra II, and, yearbook at Providence. She has
a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from the
University of Alabama and a Master’s degree in Secondary
Mathematics Education from Troy State. She and her husband,
Mark, have 3 children. Mrs. Stevens enjoys watching college
football (especially the University of Alabama), scrapbooking, and traveling with her family. Her birthday
is August 27.
Belinda Strowd
Mrs. Strowd teaches Logic &
Rhetoric chorus and also serves as our Fine Arts Director.
She holds a B.S. Degree from Troy University. Mrs. Strowd
enjoys singing, reading, and spending time with her family.
She is married to Bobby Strowd, and they have three children
- Josiah, Jacob, and Hannah Jo. Her birthday is May
15.
Nathan
Wallace
Mr. Wallace teaches Bible at PCS. He has a B.S. degree from
Auburn University. His wife, Brandi, teaches English at
Wallace Community College. Mr. Wallace enjoys landscaping,
golf, playing board games, ultimate frisbee, scuba diving, and
snorkeling. His birthday is June 17.
Wesley
Whitehead
Mr. Whitehead teaches Logic and Rhetoric School math at PCS.
He has a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Auburn
University and a B.S. degree in Secondary Math Education from Troy
University. He and his wife, Tracie, have three children -
Drew, Sydney, and Zac. Mr. Whitehead enjoys reading and
