Head of School:
Emory Latta  
Mr. Latta, the Headmaster, earned his B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and his M.S. degree from Troy University Dothan.  In addition to principal, he also is the head football coach at PCS.  His wife's name is Debbie, and he has six children - Christina, Jeffrey, Ryan, Lindsey, Brooks, and Emily Anne. Mr. Latta enjoys golf, strength training, and cardio exercises. 

 

The Logic and Rhetoric School Principal:
Kathy Compton 
Mrs. Compton, the Logic and Rhetoric School Principal, earned a B.S. degree in Marketing and a B.S. degree in Secondary Math Education.  She and her husband, Barry, have two children, Kevin and Cassie.  Mrs. Compton enjoys eating, sleeping, water activities, and teaching math.

 

The Grammar School Principal:
Darlene Jones
Mrs. Jones is the Grammar School Principal at Providence.  She has a B.S. degree in Biology and a M.S. degree in Secondary Education.  She began teaching at PCS its first year as a 6th grade teacher.  Her husband, Pat, is a local attorney.  They have two daughters.  Peyton and Allden, both graduates of PCS.  Mrs. Jones likes reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.

 

 

Administrative Team:

 

Teresa DeWeese
Mrs. DeWeese is the Office Administrator at PCS. 
She and her husband, Al, have two married children and three grandchildren.  Mrs. DeWeese enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, photography, and spending time with her family. 

 

Patricia Elliot
Mrs. Elliott is the Financial Administrator at Providence.  She and her husband have two grown children, and two grandchildren.  She enjoys reading and playing in the dirt.

 

Chris Fain
Mr. Fain is the Boys Athletic Director and the Dean of Men. He also teaches 9-12 grade physical education and coaches JV football and Varsity Boys Basketball.  He earned his B.A. degree in History/Secondary Education from Covenant College.  He is married to Lindsey Fain, who also teaches at PCS.  Mr. Fain enjoys basketball, tennis, golf, reading, and video games. 

 

Lindsey Fain
Mrs. Fain is the Girls Athletic Director and the Dean of Women. She also teaches 7-12 grade girls physical education and coaches Varsity Girls Soccer.  Mrs. Fain has a B.A. degree in Science and Social Studies Education from Covenant College.  She is married to Chris Fain, who also teaches at PCS.  She enjoys working out, playing tennis, and reading. 

 

Debbie O'Dell
Mrs. O'Dell is the Administrative Assistant at Providence.  She and her husband, Pat, have two children, Kaitlin and Nathan.  Mrs. O'Dell enjoys reading. 

 

Cathy Oldfield
Mrs. Oldfield is the secretary for the Logic & Rhetoric School Principal.  Her husband, Bill, is the varsity volleyball coach.  They have two children, Rebecca and Brian.  Brian is a 2007 graduate of PCS and 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama.  Mrs. Oldfield enjoys reading and working with Stephen Ministry at her church.

 

Kendall Palmer
Mrs. Palmer is the Logic and Rhetoric Schools Guidance Counselor.  She earned her B.S. degree in Family and Consumer Science Education from Auburn University and her M.A. degree in School Counseling from Troy University.  She and her husband, David, have two children, Anna Caroline and Camille.  Mrs. Palmer enjoys sewing, tennis, scrapbooking, and shopping.  

 

Greg Walker
Mr. Walker is the Buildings and Grounds Administrator at Providence.  He has a B.S. degree in Management from the University of West Florida.  He and his wife, Donna, have two sons, Cody and Spencer.  Mr. Walker enjoys woodworking and hunting.    


Bonnie Wright
Mrs. Wright is the First Presbyterian Preschool Director, and the Academic Supervisor at PCS.  She has a B.A. degree in Education from Covenant College.  She and her husband, Ken, have a son, Mark, who is married to Kara, and a daughter, Lauren, who is married to Josh Reif.  Lauren and Josh are both graduates of PCS.  Mrs. Wright enjoys reading, traveling, and spectator sports (Go Eagles!).

Debi Carlisle
Mrs. Carlisle is a receptionist at Providence.  She is married to Jerry Carlisle and has five children - Clay, Felicia, Stephanie, Robby, and Sara, who attends PCS.  She also has four grandsons - Tre, Adam, Blake, and Landon.  Mrs. Carlisle enjoys attending Sara's athletic events, spending time with her family, traveling, and reading. 


Peggy Charlton
Mrs. Charlton is a receptionist at Providence. She is a native of Dothan, and is married to Keith Charlton.  They have three children.  Mrs. Charlton enjoys reading, the beach, and the mountains. 


Patricia Godwin

Mrs. Godwin is the Scrip Coordinator at PCS.  She and her husband, Joe, have two sons, Dajun and Rowan.  Mrs. Godwin enjoys hunting, scrapbooking, and any outdoor activity.

 

Carol McKnight

Mrs. McKnight is the Catered Lunch Coordinator for the Grammar School and also assists in the Financial Office.  She is married to Dennis McKnight, and they have one son, Dylan, who is a student at Providence.  Mrs. McKnight enjoys reading, scrapbooking, traveling to the beach, the lake, the mountains, and especially to Alabama football games. 

 

Jan Murray
Mrs. Murray is the Office Secretary at PCS. 

 

Teresa Thompson
Mrs. Thompson is the catered lunch coordinator and athletic secretary at PCS.  She has a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama.  She and her husband, Alan, have two children, Trey and Tristan.

Shelley Bartlett

Mrs. Bartlett teaches 5th grade at PCS.

 

Jennifer Belden
Mrs. Belden teaches Physical Education at Providence.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in military science.  She and her husband, Kevin, have five children - Victoria, Tyler, Brooke, Jade, and Chloe.  Mrs. Belden enjoys running and reading. 


Julie Brown
Mrs. Brown teaches 3rd grade at Providence.  She has a B.S. degree in Education from Troy University and a M.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from Troy University Dothan.  She and her husband, Todd, have two daughters, Jacy and Janie.  Mrs. Brown enjoys caring for and spending time with her family, singing, and snorkeling. 

 

Tammy Bruner
Mrs. Bruner teaches 4th grade at Providence.  She graduated from Troy State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education.  She is married to Jay Bruner.  They have two children, Jacob and Olivia.  She loves being with her family and taking small day trips around our area.  She also enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, riding bikes, and scrapbooking. 

 

Kitsy Burns
Mrs. Burns teaches 4th and 5th grade Latin at PCS.  She received her degree from The Woman's College of Georgia.  She and her husband, Henry, have three sons.  When she has some spare time, Mrs. Burns enjoys gardening and cooking. 

 

Gena Coates

Mrs. Coates teaches 6th grade at PCS.  She is the wife of Stacey Coates and the mother of three PCS students. She is a graduate of Troy University, and holds a Florida certificate in Middle School Mathematics, as well as an Alabama teaching certificate.  Mrs. Coates has ten years of teaching experience in Florida and Alabama public schools.  She has been a varsity head coach for volleyball, cross country, and tennis, and head coach for JH softball and basketball.  She presently serves as our JH volleyball coach.


Holly Gagliano
Mrs. Gagliano teaches 6th grade Literature and Grammar.  She has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Troy University, and is currently working on her Masters degree.  Mrs. Gagliano and her husband, Philip, have two children, Josie and Gracie.  She enjoys scrapbooking, camping, and spending time with her family. 

 

Kathy Galati

Mrs. Galati teaches 5th grade at PCS.  She has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and a M.A. degree in Reading.  She and her husband, Frank, have one daughter, Leslie Ann.  Prior to coming to PCS, Mrs. Galati taught for fourteen years in New York.  She enjoys reading, music, traveling with her family, and NASCAR.  Mrs. Galati and her husband feel blessed to be back in the South and serving together in the ministry of PCS!

 

Louise Garrett

Mrs. Garrett teaches 5th grade.

 

Stephanie Gilland

Mrs. Gilland teaches 1st grade at Providence.  She graduated from Troy University at Dothan with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She and her husband, Tim, have two sons, Spencer and Parker.  Mrs. Gilland enjoys spending time with her family, reading, going to the beach, and loves being a teacher of young children!


Alden Godfrey
Mrs. Godfrey has been teaching 1st grade for more than 15 years, and is an original staff member of PCS.  She has her B.A. degree from Auburn University.  She and her husband, Bobby, have two sons, Will and Cory, two granddaughters, and a cocker spaniel, Abby Grace.  She enjoys grandmothering Lauren Elizabeth. 


Kay Hamner

Mrs. Hamner, a 2nd grade teacher at Providence, has been teaching approximately 20 years.  She is a graduate of Dothan High School and earned her B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University.  She and her husband, Steve, have two children, Jordan and Brock.  Mrs. Hamner says that when she is not driving the family taxi cab, she enjoys gardening, scrapbooking, cooking, and going to the lake with family and pets. 

 

Karon Holley
Mrs. Holley teaches 3rd grade at Providence.  She has a B.S. degree in Education from Troy University Dothan.  She and her husband, Vaudy, have two children.  Jeremy and his wife, Karin, live in Huntsville and Karrie and her husband, Brian Hart, live in Newnan, Georgia.  Mrs. Holley has one grandchild - Holley Marie Hart.  She enjoys reading and sewing. 


Cyndy Horner

Mrs. Horner teaches third grade at Providence and has a B.S. degree in Middle Grades Education from Berry College in Rome, Georgia.  She and her husband, Stephen, have one daughter, Lauren Elizabeth.  Mrs. Horner enjoys gardening, crafts, scrapbooking, and reading. 

 

Liz Host

Mrs. Host is a 2nd grade teacher.  She graduated with a  B.ed. from Gloucestershire University, U.K.  She has taught in both England and the U.S. and is happy to answer questions on her experiences!  She currently lives in Dothan with her husband, Matt Elofson, who is a reporter at the Dothan Eagle.  She enjoys teaching, exercising, traveling, weekends and holidays, and spending time with family and friends. 


Sue Killebrew
Mrs. Killebrew teaches Grammar School music at Providence.  She has a B.S. degree from Samford University and a Master of Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Mrs. Killebrew has three daughters, Shanna, Skylar, and Susan.  She enjoys photography, mystery novels, and scrapbooking. 


Melissa Knight
Mrs. Knight is a 2nd grade teacher at PCS.  She is a 1995 graduate of Troy State University Dothan where she earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education.  She has been teaching in private schools since graduation.  Mrs. Knight says that it was through much prayer and waiting on God that He opened the door to allow her to be a part of His work at PCS.  Her goal as a Christian educator is to help her students to develop into God-loving, Bible-believing, self-motivated, divergent, life long learners.  She and her husband, Kevin, have two children, Kory Matthew, and Kassidy Morgan.

 

Lindsey Longchamp

Ms. Longchamp is a library aide at PCS and is a PCS graduate. She received a B.S. in education from Troy University at Dothan.  She enjoys exercising, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Courtney Mann

Mrs. Mann teaches 4th grade at Providence. She graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. degree in education.  She received a masters degree from Troy University.  She and her husband, Chris, have two sons, Carter and Dowling.  Mrs. Mann enjoys art, reading, gardening, and cultivating life long friendships.

 

Rachel Mayes

Mrs. Mayes teaches first grade at PCS.  She is married to Jeremy Mayes and they have two daughters, Autumn and Adleigh.  She earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education at Freed-Hardeman University and has earned Master's level credits through Bellarmine University.  Mrs. Mayes enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time with her family.


Kari Beth Price
Mrs. Price teaches 2nd Grade at Providence.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Troy University Dothan. 

 

Eleatha Ross

Mrs. Ross teaches 4th grade at Providence.  She has an A.A. degree from Chipola Jr. College and a B.S. degree in Education from Samford University. She is married to Jeff Ross, the Director of Columbia Baptist Association Ministry Center.  She has two daughters, Melea and Emalee.  Both girls are graduates of PCS and Troy University.  Mrs. Ross also has a precious grandson, Tyson.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and yard sales. 


Jordan Sanders

Mrs. Sanders teaches 6th grade history and literature at PCS.  She has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and a M.A. degree in Learning Disabilities.  She and her husband, Mark, have three children, Laurin, Layne, and Zac.  Mrs. Sanders enjoys hand-tinting photographs, scrapbooking, and sewing.  

 

Tiffany Sullivan

Mrs. Sullivan is a Grammar School aide at PCS.  She and her husband Aubrey have two Providence students, Meagan and Hayden. 


Sheila Wallace
Mrs. Wallace is a Grammar School aide at PCS.  She has an Associates degree.  She and her husband, Steve, have three children, Jared, Tyler, and Kristen.  Mrs. Wallace enjoys playing the piano and crafts. 


Elizabeth Welch
Mrs. Welch is a first grade teacher at Providence.  She has a B.S. degree in Mental Health and a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University.  She and her husband, John, have two children, Kathryn and Andrew.  They also have a dog named Bobby.  Mrs. Welch enjoys walking, swimming, crocheting, and missionary work. 

 

Kara Wright
Mrs. Wright teaches 1st-5th grade Art.  She graduated from Covenant College with a Bachelor's degree in Art.  She is married to Mark Wright and enjoys art, travel, sports, family, and working out.  Mrs. Wright coaches girls junior varsity soccer and is the assistant girls varsity soccer coach.

Ms. Wynja teaches 4th grade at PCS.

Valentina Adams

Mrs. Adams teaches Spanish in the Rhetoric School.  She has a B.S. degree in English Education from the home of the Golden Panthers - Florida International University.  Señora Adams is married to Señor Adams and they have three wonderful children - Troy, Grant, and Faith.  She was born in Miami, Florida where her first language was Spanish.  Therefore, she feels blessed to be able to share her love of the Spanish language and culture with her students.    ¡Señora Adams le encanta leer en la playa, ir de compras en Target, tomar café en Starbucks, y comprar comida en Publix!

 

Deborah Borcik

Mrs. Borcik teaches 7th and 8th grade mathematics at Providence.  She earned her B.S. degree in Mathematics and in English Literature from Troy University, Dothan, and she earned her M.S. degree in English Literature from Troy University, Troy.  She and her husband have two children.  Mrs. Borcik enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and cheering on her Mighty Trojans. 

 

Kelle Buckles

Mrs. Buckles is the secretary for the Logic & Rhetoric School. She and her husband, Bruce, have two daughters at Providence, Natalie and Brooke. She enjoys sewing (when she has time) and baking.

 

Frank Galati

Mr. Galati teaches Physical Science, Chemistry, and Physics at Providence.


Robert (Bo) Grice

Dr. Grice teaches Logic and Rhetoric School Bible and history.  He has a B.S. degree in Psychology and History and a M.S. degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy University Dothan.  Dr. Grice also has a MAR in Religion and a Ph. D. from Liberty University.  He and his wife, Denita, have four children - Heather, Melissa, Taylor, and Robbie.  He enjoys being a "media junkie."  


Dana Gunter

Mrs. Gunter teaches Math in the Rhetoric School.  She has a B.S. degree and a Master's degree in Secondary Math Education from Auburn University.  Her husband, John, serves as a missionary to Hispanics in Southeast Alabama.  They have two sons, Daniel and Luke.  Before coming to Providence, the Gunters served as missionaries in the Dominican Republic.  Mrs. Gunter enjoys scrapbooking and reading Christian novels. 

 

Dave Hébert  

Mr. Hébert is Providence's Christian Worldview Director, and he oversees PCS missions, logic and rhetoric chapels and grammar assemblies as well as assisting with Rhetoric Bible classes.  He and his wife, Paula, have been married for over 30 years and have four children, Jodye, Alyssa, Andy, and Jordan, and three grandchildren.  He and his family served as missionaries in Japan from 1990-2005.  He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Bible from Birmingham Theological Seminary.  Mr. Hébert is a former professional musician and continues to participate in music at PCS. 

 

Ruth Hooks

Mrs. Hooks teaches 9th and 10th grade Literature at Providence.  She earned her B.A. degree from Auburn University, and her M.A. and A.A. ("sixth year") degrees from Troy University, and she has over 28 years of teaching experience. She and her husband have two grown daughters. 

 

Nicholas Ireland

Mr. Ireland received his B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee and teaches 8th grade Logic and 7th grade Earth Science.  An avid runner, he also coaches the cross country team.

 

Melanie Jones

Mrs. Jones teaches 7th and 8th grade Latin.  She loves Latin and thinks "Latina est gaudium and utilis!"  She recently moved back to the Wiregrass area with her family.  Mrs. Jones has a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Alabama and has been involved as a teacher in classical Christian education for over 15 years.  She and her husband, Tom, have five children:  Tait, J.T.,  Emma, Julia, and Brian.  She is an avid lover of animals and is certain that her beagle, Dixie, is Narnian!

 

Amy Kelly

Mrs. Kelly teaches Biology and Anatomy and Physiology and serves as the school nurse.  She graduated from University of South Alabama with a BSN and has worked as a pediatric nurse.  She and her husband have two daughters.  She enjoys reading, exercising, and traveling.

 

Jayson Kirk

Mr. Kirk was born on Dover Air Force Base in 1982, and moved to Florida as an infant.  He was raised in Crawfordville, FL, just south of Tallahassee, until he came to south Alabama in 2003.  When he was twelve years old, God saved him and called him to the Gospel ministry.  He received his B.A. in Theology with a minor in Bible from the Baptist College of Florida.  He is also the Associate Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Headland where he preaches in the contemporary service.  In 2008, Mr. Kirk married the absolute love of his life, Jennifer, and God blessed them with a beautiful baby girl, Natalie Grace, in 2010.  He enjoys cooking, anything outdoors, reading, playing with his black Labrador, Bama, all things Florida State, and spending time with his family.  He currently teaches 7th grade Old Testament and 8th grade New Testament.

 

Mary Langford

Mrs. Langford teaches Algebra I and Algebra II.  She has a B.S. degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Secondary Education from Troy State University.  She and her husband, Donnie, have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren.  She enjoys keeping her grandchildren, reading, and vacationing with her family.

 

Sue Miller

Mrs. Miller is the Yearbook sponsor at PCS.

 

Mitzi Moore

Mrs. Moore teaches 7th grade Geography and 8th grade Civics at PCS.  She has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama.  She and her husband, Bobby, have two children, Mitchell and Morgan.  She enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and traveling with her family. 

 

Charles Pierce

Mr. Pierce teaches Honors Chemistry at Providence.  He was saved at the age of 19 and called to preach at the age of 20.  He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Comprehensive Science Education from Troy State, Dothan.  He earned a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Luther Rice Seminary and was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree by Gulf Coast Seminary.  He and his wife, Faye, have four grown children and seven grandchildren and attend Southside Baptist Church, where he teaches a men's Sunday School class.  He also does supply preaching at Southside and other churches.  He enjoys teaching, reading, watching sports, and working in the yard.  

 

Marla Reynolds

Mrs. Reynolds teaches 7th & 8th grade English.  She has a B.S. degree in English Education and over 20 years of teaching experience.  She and her husband, Gary, have two children, Drew and Kaitlin.

 

Jennifer Sanders

Mrs. Sanders earned her B.S. degree from Troy University. She and her husband, Brad, have two children, Brenley Kathryn and Bradley Kade. She is very excited to share her passion for drawing and art through a classical Christian program, for all His glory and honor. Besides drawing, Mrs. Sanders enjoys photography, swimming, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Sanders is originally from Louisiana but loves watching Alabama football.

 

Jason Smith
Mr. Jason S. Smith earned a B.A in English from Auburn University (with a concentration in modern literature and a minor in history).  He also earned a M.A. in Secondary English Education.  For over 13 years, Mr. Smith has taught 7th-12th grade literature and writing in both public and private schools.  During his teaching tenure, Mr. Smith has produced and directed high school and junior high school theater.  He has served on reading, writing, and curriculum committees, while fulfilling a variety of administrative duties.  Mr. Smith has been a guest presenter at the Association of Classical Christian Schools Conference.  He holds a current Alabama teaching certificate.  Mr. Smith is married to Tamara, and they have three children: Evelyn, Lydia, and William.  You may visit Mr. Smith at jasonsaxonsmith.typepad.com.


Belinda Strowd

Mrs. Strowd teaches Logic & Rhetoric chorus and also serves as our Fine Arts Director. She holds a B.S. Degree from Troy University. Mrs. Strowd enjoys singing, reading, and spending time with her family. She is married to Bobby Strowd, and they have three children - Josiah, Jacob, and Hannah Jo. 

 

Gary Waddell

Gary Waddell teaches Bible in the Rhetoric School at Providence. He has a lifetime professional certification from ACSI and holds degrees in Biblical Studies and Christian Counseling from Bethany Bible College and Baptist Theological College in Florida as well as a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Covenant College.   He and Sissy have three sons and several grandchildren. He enjoys reading, teaching, and outdoor activities.


Nathan Wallace

Mr. Wallace teaches Rhetoric at PCS.  He has a B.S. degree from Auburn University.  His wife, Brandi, teaches English at Wallace Community College.  Mr. Wallace enjoys landscaping, golf, playing board games, ultimate frisbee, scuba diving, and snorkeling. 

 

Richard Williamson

Mr. Williamson teaches U.S. History and Western Civilization. He has a B.A. degree in History and Political Science from the University of Montevallo. He and his wife, Janie, have three grown sons and four grandchildren. He enjoys University of Alabama football, spending time with family, and travel.

 

Mark Wright
Mr. Wright teaches 3rd - 12th grade Physical Education.  He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Covenant College.  Mr. Wright and his wife, Kara, enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing and watching sports, and traveling.  He is also an assistant coach for junior high football and varsity basketball.
