Providence is privileged to have a knowledgeable and supportive Board of Directors whose primary purpose is to govern the school and ensure its allegiance to the core values set upon its opening in 1995. Board members are chosen for their faith, character, particular skill set, and support of the school’s mission. The Board rotates every September, with the members serving four-year terms.
Board of Directors for 2025-26

Michael has served on the Providence school board since 2014. He is married to Lindsay and they have 4 daughters (1 PCS graduate and 3 current PCS students). They are members of First Presbyterian Church, Dothan. During his 21 years as a business owner, Michael served on several boards of directors for organizations in his industry. Michael is now a business coach committed to helping other business leaders scale their businesses by providing support for strategic planning and leadership development.

Steven Salter is married to Lindsey Phillips Salter, and together they have three children: one graduate of PCS, a PCS senior, and a junior. Steven was introduced to Providence through First Presbyterian Church, but his unique interest in Classical Christian Education (CCE) began after attending a town hall with CCE speaker Andrew Kern. Steven has served two terms on the PCS board.


Originally, from Birmingham, Alabama, Riley Blair moved to Dothan in 2014 and joined the Board of Directors in 2023. Riley and his wife, Caroline, a native of Dothan, have three sons and two daughters who are students at Providence. They are active members of First Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a Deacon. Riley graduated in engineering from Auburn University in 2008 and is a partner in a local mechanical contracting business. Riley enjoys sports, the outdoors, traveling, and spending quality time with the wonderful family and friends God has given him.

Jason Canady is in his fourth year of service on the Providence Board, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He and his wife, Jennifer, are parents of a 2022 PCS graduate and a current PCS senior. Jason is a Certified Public Accountant with a local accounting firm in Dothan. He and his family are active members of First Presbyterian Church.

Elizabeth Faulk joined the Providence Board in 2023 and will complete her first term this fall. She has three children at Providence in grades 10th, 6th, and 1st. She has been married to Grant Faulk for 19 years, and they attend First Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth has worked in various marketing roles over the years - Marketing Director for her family's regional restaurant group for 7 years, a Special Projects Coordinator for 5 years with her husband's business, as well as, the Volunteers in Partnership Coordinator at PCS in 2017-18. Today, you will typically find her in a gym or on a field watching and cheering on her kids.

Jack Holmes, a Ruling Elder at First Presbyterian Church, has been on the Providence Board since 2017. Prior to being on the Board, Jack was the Chairman of the First Presbyterian Church Pre-School Committee before the pre-school became a part of the Providence ministry of First Presbyterian. Jack believes strongly in the Classical Christian Education method of education. He sees PCS as an extension of the family, helping our students to be equipped with the necessary godly principles to change the World for Christ. Jack is a retired Army officer who also retired after over 30 years of Federal Civil Service after his Army service. Jack and his wife Linda, of 50 years, have two grown married children and two grandchildren who are students at Providence.

Jonathan joined the Providence in 2024. He and his wife, Courtney, have two children at PCS. They joined the Providence community in 2018 and were drawn to the school’s commitment to an education grounded in a biblical worldview. Jonathan is an orthopedic surgeon with Southern Bone and Joint Specialists. He serves as an elder on the Session at First Presbyterian Church in Dothan. He and his family are grateful to be part of the Christ-centered culture and strong sense of community that makes Providence such a special place.

Andrew Maxwell has served the Dothan area as an Optometrist for 42 years and currently works at Eye Center South. He and his wife, Karen, have been married for 41 years and have two daughters who have graduated from PCS, where their oldest now teaches eleventh grade humanities. They have two grandchildren attending PCS and one at PEC. Andrew has served on the PCS board since 1998 and is an elder and Sunday School teacher at Mt Gilead Baptist Church.

Brannon has been married to his wife, Ann, since 2003, and they have four children. We have lived in the Dothan area since 2003 and have been members of First Presbyterian Church since 2005. Our experience at Providence began with Providence Early Childhood, and our first child began as a student at PCS in 2018. We currently have one PCS graduate and three students, and I am grateful to have served on the PCS Board since 2020.

Ashlea Stanley joined the Providence board in September of 2025. Her background is in elementary education and school library media. She was first introduced to Providence when she worked on staff as the library media specialist from 2005-2007, and she has been learning and implementing classical Christian education since that time. She classically homeschooled all four of her children and has transitioned 3 of them to PCS at various ages. Currently, she has one PCS graduate and 2 PCS students. Her youngest son is homeschooling. She and her husband, Matt, attend First Presbyterian Church where she serves in the children’s ministry.

Rusty Milton is the Pastor at First Presbyterian Church. He is originally from Auburn, Alabama. He attended college at the University of Montevallo, where he became a believer through the ministry of Campus Outreach. He was discipled and developed a heart for discipleship through that ministry.
After college, Rusty spent time as a missionary in Mongolia, before returning to America to study for pastoral ministry at Wheaton College and Covenant Seminary. Rusty pastored for five years in Clanton, AL, before being called to pastor in Christchurch, New Zealand, for seven years.
Rusty and his wife, Jennifer, met in St. Louis while Rusty was in seminary. They have three children: Phin, a PCS graduate, and Addie and Liam, who currently attend PCS. The Miltons are passionate about missions and love adventure and hospitality. They love to travel and enjoy the outdoors.

Peter Hansen serves a PCS Head of School. Peter has been involved with classical Christian education for the past 25 years. He has taught humanities to middle and upper school students at Regents School of Austin and Rockbridge Classical Academy and has served as Head of School at Annapolis Christian Academy in Texas, Lancaster County Christian School in Pennsylvania, Trinity Christian Academy in Lexington, KY, and most recently at Providence Christian School in Alabama. Peter is married to Lisa and they have 4 adult children. He holds a BA in Philosophy from Hillsdale College, a Master’s of Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, an Ed.S in Instructional Leadership from Samford University, and an Ed.D in Educational and Organizational Leadership from Samford University.
