A.H.S.A.A. Eligibility for students

As a member of the Alabama High School Athletics Association, Providence must abide by the AHSAA "transfer" rules, which are complicated. Here are the relevant rules, but we advise you to talk to our athletic director, Cliff Carter, to clarify your specific situation.

1.  Students who enter Providence from another AHSAA member school inside the county, public or private, are ineligible to participate in varsity athletics for one year from the date of enrollment in our school. The AHSAA does allow these transfer students to practice, participate in team activities, and compete on junior high or junior varsity teams.*

2.  Students who are either homeschooled or attend a non-member AHSAA school are eligible to participate immediately in athletics at Providence Christian School provided he/she meets all of the other eligibility requirements. (Exception: Homeschooled students that participated on an AHSAA sports team are ineligible for varsity participation for one year - see #1 above)

3.  Students who have a bona fide move to Houston County from another county, in which all principal members of the family reside in the new residence in Houston County, will be eligible to participate in athletics at Providence Christian School.

4.  All transfer students (those coming from an AHSAA school) who receive financial assistance are ineligible for athletics in their first year of school at Providence Christian School.
